Tire Pressure Monitoring

SilverLeaf is proud to offer the world's best tire pressure monitoring for every VMS model.  TireSafeGuard and SilverLeaf have together put together what is certainly the ultimate tire pressure monitoring system, and the system is ready to install.

The system starts with TireSafeGuard’s sensors, which detect both the temperature and the pressure of each tire. The sensors mount inside the tire, fastened to the rim with what is essentially a large hose clamp. The sensors report the actual temperature and pressure whenever it changes, or when the vehicle is moving. The signals are picked up by a receiver which can use multiple antennae to cover even the largest coach and the tow car. The receiver is connected to SilverLeaf’s interface manager, which correlates the tires to their locations and reports to the VMS display in the dash.

System installation is straightforward. The tires do need to be broken down to add the sensors. Quite simply, the only way that you can measure tire temperature is by putting the sensor inside the tire.  Temperature is perhaps more important to measure than pressure, and the value of that information is certainly worth the extra installation cost.

The receiver and interface manager can be mounted in any convenient location, and require just four wires in addition to the antenna cable. Two data wires carry the information to the VMS, using the same accessory data bus as other SilverLeaf products. SilverLeaf’s "multiplexing" technology allows the VMS to be connected to as many accessories as desired. After installing the sensors, there is a simple process of matching the sensors to their wheel positions. This can be done by triggering the sensors individually, or by manually entering the sensor ID codes. The driver can also set the alarm levels for temperature and pressure for each tire or group of tires. TireSafeGuard also has a passenger car display that can be mounted in the car dash.

With the system installed, the VMS will display a new icon on the Drive and Scan screens. Hopefully that icon will show that everything is "Ok", but should any tire start to go low or heat up, the icon will show first a "Yellow Alert", and finally, a "Red Alert". With a Red Alert, the VMS will automatically switch to the Tire Status Screen, where each tire gets its own status icon and the pressure and temperature of each is shown. The details vary with the VMS model, but in every case the screens make full use of their graphic capabilities to make it easy to use and understand. The system also provides alerts for low batteries and sensors that aren’t reporting.

The package can be added to any VMS display.  No decision has yet been made whether the VMSpc product will be supported.
